METHOD FOR STRENGTHENING AUTOMATIC COUPLING BODY AND AUTO-COUPLING BODY STRENGTHENED BY THIS METHOD Russian patent published in 2021 - IPC C21D9/00 C21D1/10 C21D1/18

Abstract RU 2755188 C1

FIELD: railway engineering.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to the car-building industry, in particular to the heat treatment of the body of the automatic coupling. The method for strengthening the body of the automatic coupling includes its quenching by induction heating followed by cooling with water, and the tail part of the body of the automatic coupling is partially subjected to quenching, it includes the outer upper surface interacting with the traction clamp, the end cylindrical surface and the inner surface of the hole for the wedge of the traction clamp, while quenching is carried out continuously-sequentially by means of an inductor-sprayer moving at a speed of 1.5 to 5 mm/s, and at the quenching stage, the current strength from 2.5 to 3.5 kA is maintained constant, the current power is from 35 to 60 kW, the current frequency is from 5 to 20 kHz and the gap is from 1 to 5 mm between each surface mentioned above and the inductor-sprayer, the cooling stage is carried out with water at a temperature of 15 to 30°C through holes in the inductor-sprayer at a water flow rate of 15 to 50 l/min, and after the quenching stage, the low-temperature release of the automatic coupling housing is carried out at a temperature of 200 to 300°C for 3-5 hours. Additionally, the outer lower surface can be partially quenched. The length of the hardened section of the outer upper surface of the coupling body reinforced this way, measured from the end of the shank, is no less than 200 mm, the depth of the quenched sections is no less than 3 mm and the hardness of the quenched sections is no less than 320 HB. With additional partial quenching of the outer lower surface, the length of the quenched section of the outer lower surface, measured from the end of the shank, is no less than 200 mm, the depth of the quenched section is no less than 3 mm and the hardness of the hardened section is no less than 320 HB.

EFFECT: increased resistance of the tail part of the body of the automatic coupling to wear.
