FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy, namely to formation of metal powders for additive technologies. Disclosed is a method of forming metal powders, which includes feeding a cylindrical metal workpiece into a plasma generator installation with an inert gas medium, fusion of the end face of the cylindrical metal workpiece with plasma jets under the action of a standing ultrasonic wave with provision of spraying and solidification of molten metal particles in flight, It differs by spraying metal particles of specified equal size by means of annular ultrasonic radiator forming standing wave inside cylindrical billet and annular ultrasonic radiators forming standing wave from outside on edge of molten end of cylindrical metal billet.
EFFECT: enabling formation of spherical metal powder of equal size.
