FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy, namely, to powder metallurgy and methods of producing metal powders. Method of forming metal powders for additive technologies in a plasma generator with sorting by weight in an electric field includes feeding and fusion of cylindrical billet end with plasma jets with spraying and solidification of fused metal particles during flight in inert gas medium. For sorting of fused metal particles by size, two electrodes are used, which form high-voltage non-linear electric field, which provides more strong deviation of trajectories of less heavy metal particles with their subsequent accumulation in separate sections of containers for powders of various sizes.
EFFECT: method provides for sorting metal spherical granules by size.
