DEVICE FOR DRUG DELIVERY INTO LUNG BY MEANS OF CATHETER Russian patent published in 2020 - IPC A61M16/04

Abstract RU 2714183 C2

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions refers to medicine, namely to instillation (drop introduction) of drug and specifically to device facilitating introduction of liquid or aerosol medicament (particularly pulmonary surfactant) into lung by means of thin catheter, to a system for delivering a sprayed drug into the pharyngeal region or a retropharyngeal space of the patient by means of a catheter positioned by the above device, to a method for using the above catheter positioning device for administering a medicament, and to a kit for delivering the sprayed medicament into a pharyngeal zone or a retropharyngeal space of the patient. Device facilitating positioning of a catheter for delivering a liquid or aerosol pulmonary surfactant into the lungs of a spontaneously breathing patient comprises an elongated body and a substantially annular terminal. Elongated body is configured to reproduce an internal contour of the upper respiratory tract of the patient and is equipped with a guiding means adapted to cover the catheter. Terminal annular element is adapted for interfacing with an internal wall of the patient's mouth; the patient also has a toroidal element spatially separated from the elongated body and joined by bridges. At that, toroidal element and bridges form chamber into which drug can be delivered through catheter and which does not prevent passage of air flow through natural airways. Kit for delivery of the sprayed drug into the pharyngeal or retropharyngeal space of the patient comprises a pharmaceutical composition containing a medicament, a flexible catheter for administering the drug, a device according to the aforesaid device, facilitating insertion of the catheter into the retropharyngeal zone and its positioning, and a container for storing the drug, the catheter and said device.

EFFECT: group of inventions provides effective drug spraying into the patient's lungs due to reliable positioning of a substantially circular element inside the patient's larynx, which promotes correct and reliable positioning of the catheter end during the drug spraying.
