SUBSTANCE: invention refers to physiology and can be used in prenosological diagnostics and preventive medicine for assessment of human functional state. Disclosed is a method in which based on a cardiogram, examining a heart rate variability, calculating a frequency spectrum of fluctuations of heart rate and constructing the approximating function of form 1/fn, best envelope frequency spectrum, where f is spectrum frequency, n is exponent, wherein value of index n is used as a characteristic of body condition, new is that range of values n=0.8…1.4 is taken as a "norm" range corresponding to "health" state; calculating percentage of deviation of value n from limit values of "norm", at that, if values of n deviates from limit values of "norm" by less than 15 %, then one speaks of a pre-pathological development of "pathology", if the deviation of the value of n is between 15 % and 30 % relative to the "norm", then the premorbid condition of the "pathology" is stated, if the value of n deviates from the limit values of the "norm" by more than 30 %, then there is a "pathology".

EFFECT: invention enables to obtain criterial parameters of quantitative and qualitative rapid assessment of the functional state of the body on the presence of unfavorable deviations, that will help the medical specialist to make a decision on additional specialized examinations and/or targeted corrective, recovery and therapeutic measures.
