SUBSTANCE: invention proposes a liquid antacid composition comprising the following components: (a) active acid-neutralizing compound chosen from group comprising of calcium-containing compounds, aluminum-containing compounds, magnesium-containing compounds and their mixtures, and (b) antibacterial adjuvant chosen from group consisting of combination of propylene glycol and glycerol, combination of propylene glycol taken in the amount from about 3 wt.-% to about 10 wt.-% with glycerol taken in the amount from about 3 wt.-% to about 10 wt.-% as measured for the total mass of the composition. Acid-neutralizing substance consists of a mixture of aluminum hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide. Proposed liquid antacid composition contains 200-700 mg of active acid-neutralizing compound per 5 ml of the liquid antacid composition. Invention provides the enhanced resistance against microbial infection, possibility for preparing antacid composition without preserving agents, decreasing elevated level of acidity in stomach, increasing pH value of the stomach content and alleviating heartburn.
