FIELD: biotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of biotechnology. Invention is a method for selecting Betula pendula maternal trees producing seed offspring with different somatic cell genetic material stability, biochemical parameters (amount of total protein in seeds and seedlings, peroxidase activity) including extraction of at least five accounting phenotypically healthy birch trees, generative age, on each investigated territory, a section of three sprouts from each tree with loose leaves or kidneys with length of at least 30 cm, collection and sprouting of Betula pendula seeds from each parent plant separately of not less than 300 pieces, determination of peroxidase activity in blossoming leaves and amount of total protein in seeds and sprouts, wherein activity of peroxidase of mother plant is calculated, obtained value is compared with value of 0.28 mcmol/min/mg, above which maternal specimen produces mutable offspring, otherwise – weakly mutable, and the calculated amount of total protein in seeds and seedlings is compared with values of 0.180 mg/ml and 0.160 mg/ml respectively, below which the parent specimen produces a mutable seed offspring, characterized by low germination capacity and growth capacity, otherwise - weakly-mutable with high germination capacity and growth capacity.
EFFECT: what is presented is a method for selection of Betula pendula maternal trees producing seed offspring with different germination and stability of genetic material of somatic cells according to biochemical parameters.
