FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an agent for producing actinium-227, thorium-228 and thorium-229 from irradiated radium-226. Method involves irradiation with neutrons in an atomic reactor of radiation-stable compound of radium-226, dissolution of irradiated material in diluted nitric acid, deposition of radium-226 from solution by addition of excess concentrated nitric acid in form of radium-226 nitrate, separating thorium-228 and thorium-229 from the obtained solution by sorption on an anion-exchange resin followed by desorption of thorium-228 and thorium-229 with diluted nitric acid. Further, actinium-227 is separated from solution by sorption method using cation-exchange resin with subsequent desorption of actinium-227 with nitric acid solution and recycling of radium-226 for repeated irradiation. Radium-226 bromide is used as a radiation-stable compound for irradiation of radium-226 with neutrons.

EFFECT: high degree of extraction of actinium-227, thorium-228 and thorium-229, low losses of radium-226 and high efficiency and safety of the process.
