FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to radio engineering and can be used in systems for monitoring radio environment in a complex or as an independent device. Said result is achieved due to the fact that direction-finding during space scanning involves emitting and receiving wave from target, determining phase shift between wave transmitted through plate from dielectric material and reflected from it, conversion of the phase shift into a control signal proportional to the angular position of the target in each position of the antenna beam, wherein the wave from the target of arbitrary polarization is directed at an angle to the plate of dielectric material, the electrical thickness of which is a multiple of half the wavelength. Device which realizes the method comprises a receiving-transmitting antenna, a plate of dielectric material, a receiving antenna located on a platform rotating in a direction-finding plane, equipped with a drive and a sensor of the angular position of the platform, connected to the target angle-based computer based on the processor, a generator connected through a switch with a receiving-transmitting antenna and a target detection detector, a phase shift meter between signals from the output of the receiving-transmitting antenna through the switch and the receiving antenna, connected to the target position angle computer, wherein plate of dielectric material is fixed on holder with possibility of rotation relative to centre of platform, and receiving antenna is installed on support to fix it at a certain angle relative to centre of platform.

EFFECT: technical result is high accuracy of angular target detection for arbitrary polarization of signals from a target.
