SUBSTANCE: invention relates to power supply systems via Ethernet (PoE). To this end, a classification event is used to transmit data from PD (121) to PSE (110, 910). Sensor (310, 410, 510a, 510b) determines the sensor value, disconnects the PoE connection and re-connects so that the start-up cycle begins using PSE (110, 910). Sensor (310, 410, 510a, 510b) provides resistance PoE relating to class 0, ..., 3, where class relates to value of sensor (class 0 = presence is detected; class 1 = presence is not detected). This procedure may be repeated (continuously, every minute or whenever the value of the sensor changes so that PSE (110, 910) is informed), if the required multiple cycles can be used to increase the length of the transmitted message.
EFFECT: technical result is providing transmission of actual data (sensor information) between PD and PSE, without requiring additional bandwidth for data transmission.
