FIELD: electrical equipment.
SUBSTANCE: field of application: electrical equipment. Powered device for use in a power distribution system comprising: a power supply device for supplying power at an output voltage to a powered device through a power output interface and to monitor said power in case of an overload condition which occurs when said power corresponds to a predetermined second power limit and an electrical conductor for transferring power between the power supply device and the powered device; wherein the power supply device is assigned a power class corresponding to a predetermined first power limit and a predetermined second power limit, wherein the predetermined first power limit relates to the maximum power the power supply can consume, and the predetermined second power limit relates to the maximum power which the power distribution system power supply device can supply; and wherein the powered device is configured to indicate the assigned power class to the power supply device; wherein power supply device comprises: power interface for receiving power, electric load and electric power supply power supply unit for conversion of power received via power supply interface, into electric load power and for electric load power supply to electric load, wherein electric load power supply unit is configured to determine limit current as a control power value based on output voltage for power supplied through power output interface power supply device power distribution system and wherein power supply unit of electric load is additionally configured to control power level of electric load based on control power value to prevent occurrence of overload state in power supply device so, that the power consumed by the power supply device is higher than the predetermined first power limit, and the power supplied by the power supply device is equal to or lower than the predetermined second power limit.
EFFECT: technical result is providing a powered device for use in a power distribution system, such as a PoE system, which can have high power consumption.
