SUBSTANCE: invention relates to agriculture, namely to plant growing. Method involves photographing an object, inserting an image into a computer, histogram processing and analyzing image shades. Sampling is performed in flowering-wheat sprouting phase. For analysis, the black area of the image and its shades are used. Percent of the percentile histogram is calculated, and the weight of the root system of wheat is calculated by the formula Wrs = D × K, where Wrs is the weight of the root system of wheat, t/ha, D is the percentile of the histogram,%, K is a constant coefficient indicating the relation between the weight of the root system (Wrs) and histogram percentile (D) value.
EFFECT: method makes it possible to simplify determination of weight of root system.
