FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely, to dentistry, and can be used to diagnose the condition of the maxillofacial muscles. For this purpose, ultrasonic scanning of the right and left masseter muscles is conducted in the projection of motor points in the freeway space and with maximum volitional compression of the teeth, followed by digital processing of the ultrasonographic images. The areas corresponding to a particular gray-scale range are measured. The qualitative and quantitative differences in the echostructure of the images during testing are analysed using the amplitude-frequency spectrum of the histogram. The intensity ranges of the shades of gray are calculated to obtain quantitative indicators of the echostructure of ultrasonograms of muscles during function testing.
EFFECT: method provides data from the processing of digital image of masseter muscles with quantitative indicators changing in real time and indicating the functional features of the masticatory apparatus, expanding the scope of tools for complex diagnostics of dental diseases, such as bruxism, hypertonus of the masseter muscles, hypertrophy of the masseter muscles, and others.
