SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for controlling engine rpm. Method of controlling engine rpm includes steps of obtaining a measured value, which is a load on engine, obtaining a measured value of the engine rpm, obtaining a target value for the engine rpm from the predetermined control curve as a function of the value of the measured load on the engine or its part. If the measured rpm is different from the target value, the engine rpm is changed towards the target value according to the active control characteristic. Active control characteristic is selected from the set of active control characteristics based on the change determined in the measured engine rpm due to change of load on the engine. Working machine comprises engine and control unit configured to control engine rpm.

EFFECT: enabling timely control of engine working machine rpm.
