FIELD: measurement.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to plane flatness measuring device and method. Method of measuring the flatness of a metal article of the strip type moving under the action of a pull force, on the flatness measuring unit of the knot type deflecting said article, comprising a measuring roller, wherein flatness is measured by measuring longitudinal tension in the deviation zone of said article. At that, flatness measurement includes stages: - using a measuring roller the first value (T1) of measurement of longitudinal tension is obtained, - model of stress is determined on thickness of strip depending on conditions of plastic or elastoplastic deformation of product, - in accordance with a certain voltage model, calculating correction factor (Z1) of product longitudinal deformation, calculating a correction (T1', T2') of the first value (T1) of measuring longitudinal tension at one point (M1, M2) of the evaluation depending on the correction coefficient (Z1) of longitudinal deformation, - correcting the measured flatness measurement value (PC) in one of said evaluation points (M1, M2) is calculated taking into account the correction.

EFFECT: technical result is higher accuracy of measuring flatness.
