FIELD: agriculture; animal breeding.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for selection of breeding bulls for resistance to mastulia by indices of breeding value based on the number of somatic cells in milk. Method includes monthly individual testing of daughters of all bulls in herds by number of somatic cells (KSK) in milk. Average lactation absolute CSC in thousands/cm3 (ACAS) in daughters of each bull is converted into points by the formula: logarithm of CSC in scores = Log2 (ASC/100,000) + 3. Average scores for lactation are used to calculate bull breeding value (CPI) by CPI = 2*(D – P)*b formula, where D is logarithm of CSC in bull daughters, point; P is logarithm of CSC in cows of population, point; b is coefficient of recurrence (regression) of indicators of future daughters of this bull on indicators available. Based on the developed scale, the CPI is used to distribute producers into breeding categories – improvers, neutral agents, malignant resistance agents. At that, bulls with a breeding value index minus 1.012 and less than a point are related to category 1 improvers, with an index from minus 0.227 to minus 1.011 – to improvers of 2nd category, with an index from minus 0.226 to plus 0.211 – to neutral ones, with index from 0.212 to 1.101 – to deteriorators, with index plus 1.102 and more – to extreme deteriorators.

EFFECT: invention provides higher objectiveness, accuracy and effectiveness of selection of bulls for mastitis resistance.
