FIELD: biotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: invention constitutes a method for evaluating pedigree stud bulls of beef breeds by the quality of progeny, including the use of physiological indicators by live mass and by the average daily mass gain of calves to rank stud bulls as improvers, neutral ones, and worseners, the time period wherein a newborn calf will first approach the udder of the mother for suckling is used as an additional physiological indicator according to the invention, if the calf spends 30 to 40 minutes after birth searching for the udder then the stud bull is classified as an improver, if the newborn calf searches for the udder of the mother for 40 to 50 minutes then the stud bull is classified as neutral, and if it does for more than 1.5 hours - to worseners, wherein the physiological indicators of live mass and average daily mass gain of calves are determined at the age of 7 months.
EFFECT: invention provides a possibility to facilitate and reduce the duration of evaluation of stud bulls by the progeny.
