FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to powder metallurgy, particularly, to production of iron-based friction powdered metal composite. It can be used for manufacture of parts of automatic couplers absorbing devices of railway freight cars. Metal-composite friction alloy based on iron is obtained by pressing and contains, wt%: graphite 4.5–6; tin 2.5–5; lead 3.5–5; nickel 1.5–2.5; molybdenum disulphide 2–4; tungsten carbide 1.5–2.5; chromium 0.5–1.6; iron – balance.
EFFECT: material is characterized by high values of strength and tribological characteristics when working in the mode of impact friction.
