FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method of liquefying hydrogen. Proposed method comprises steps of cooling feed gas stream containing hydrogen at pressure of at least 1.5 MPa abs (15 bar abs) To temperature below critical temperature of hydrogen at stage of first cooling to produce liquid product flow. According to the invention, the flow of the supplied gas is cooled by means of a closed cycle of the first cooling with the flow of the first high-pressure coolant containing hydrogen, where the flow of the first high-pressure coolant is divided into two partial flows. First partial flow is expanded to low pressure thus obtaining cold for cooling of pre-cooled fed gas below critical pressure of hydrogen, and compressed to medium pressure. Second partial flow is expanded to near average pressure and directed to the first partial flow of medium pressure.
EFFECT: technical result is higher efficiency and reduced capital costs.
