FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method implemented by a wireless communication device in a wireless communication system for performing random access, in which a wireless communication system is a narrow-band Internet of things (NB-IoT) system, and a wireless communication device supports arbitrary random access on a carrier. Method comprises obtaining configuration information which determines on which carrier in a set of carriers a wireless communication device should perform random access, wherein the set of carriers includes a referenced carrier and one or more carriers without a binding, wherein the configuration information indicates a probability value which is assigned to each of the one or more carriers in the set; selecting, from among the carriers in the set, a carrier on which random access is to be performed in accordance with the configuration information; and execution of random access on selected carrier.

EFFECT: technical result consists in provision of distribution of random access load among carriers.
