FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for continuous casting of steel, which includes production of a billet. Production of the workpiece includes pouring molten steel into the crystallizer of the plant for continuous casting and drawing of the hardened shell from the crystallizer, wherein the solidified shell is a hardened section of molten steel. Method includes applying a static magnetic field to at least a portion of a defined region of the workpiece, wherein the workpiece during casting is in a continuous casting plant, wherein said region is an area, where concentration of solid substance fs in middle position in thickness direction for workpiece is in range of formula (1) below: 0<fs≤0.3 (1), wherein the static magnetic field is characterized by a magnetic field intensity greater than or equal to 0.15 T, and is oriented in a direction orthogonal to the direction in which the workpiece is drawn during pouring, wherein static magnetic field is applied at time interval of application of magnetic field greater than or equal to 10 %, wherein fraction of time of application of magnetic field is determined using presented formula (2): Percentage of application time of magnetic field (%) = (Period of time during which a static magnetic field is applied to the workpiece, (min)) × 100 / (The period of time from the moment of time, in which the concentration of solid substance in the middle position in the thickness direction for the workpiece is greater than 0, until the time at which the concentration of solid substance reaches 0.3, (min)) (2).
EFFECT: as a result, obtaining a workpiece, in which axial segregation is negligible, and high quality of steel products.
