FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to ENT-oncology. Preoperative stage of the tracheoesophageal shunting with vocal prosthesis is followed by endoscopic ultrasound examination through a tracheostomy hole. Endo-ultrasound sensor with frequency of 7.5–20 MHz is installed in the area of the posterior wall of the trachea in the formation zone of the future tracheoesophageal shunt. Total thickness of membrane part of trachea and anterior wall of oesophagus is determined in area of formation of tracheoesophageal fistula that corresponds to minimum length of vocal prosthesis. It is added with 1–1.5 mm to determine optimal length of vocal prosthesis.
EFFECT: method enables reducing postoperative complications, prolonging the service life of the vocal prostheses and improving the patients' quality of life.
