FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to ophthalmology. Oculomotor muscle is separated, divided in half along the muscle fibers from the attachment point of the muscle to the sclera by a value depending on the planned muscle weakness effect. Then one half of the muscle is sutured with a polyglycolide absorbable suture in 0.5 mm from the attachment point of the muscle to the sclera and is cut off from the point of attachment to the sclera; further cutting off the other half of the muscle from the attachment point by a value depending on the planned muscle weakness effect, and suturing the muscle halves together. After suturing the edges of the muscle halves with the same suture, episcleral stitching is performed before the point of the operated oculomotor muscle attachment, and the ends of this suture are tied by a knot without tension.
EFFECT: method enables prevention of a complication consisting in spontaneous displacement of the distal end of the muscle half into a muscular funnel by cutting a muscular suture.
