SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a coating application device and a coating application method for applying a coating agent and can be used when applying on automobiles. Coating device comprises a coating gun configured to apply a coating agent on an object; a sensor device configured to form a detection region in which the coating agent is determined on the object; a cantilever on which the gun for coating application is mounted and a sensor device; and a robot configured to hold and rotate the arm about a predetermined first axis of rotation. When the robot rotates the cantilever from the first rotation position, in which the coating gun applies the coating agent to the coating application position on the object, into the second rotation position, in which the cantilever changes in the angular direction by a predetermined rotation angle about the first rotation axis, the detection region is overlapped with the coating application position. Coating method includes steps of applying a coating agent from a gun to coat an object; console is rotated, on which the coating application gun and the sensor device are mounted, around the predetermined first rotation axis to ensure matching of the detection region with the coating agent on the object in order to determine the coating agent on the object, wherein the sensor device is configured to form a detection region; and determining the shape of the coating agent on the object.

EFFECT: enabling the operator to accurately and easily check whether the coating agent is properly applied or not.
