FIELD: metallurgy; manufacturing technology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing pre-reduced ilmenite ore for melting. Method comprises selective reduction of metal oxides contained in ore, in solid-phase reactions relative to titanium oxide and a step for preliminary reduction of carbon-containing ore granules. At that ore granules have size less than 6 mm and are produced from mixture of ore, coal fines and organic binder.

EFFECT: improved method of melting ilmenite.
