SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to radiation diagnostics, and can be used for determining the degree of manifestation of pathological bone marrow infiltration in Gaucher disease (GD). Magnetic resonance tomography (MRI) is performed. MRI examination is carried out in the region of the distal femur in the coronal plane of scanning with the thickness of the scanned layer of 4 mm in the mDIXON pulse sequence. Four sets of cartilage images of the bone marrow are obtained in the distal femoral region and regions of interest (ROI) are selected based on the following criteria: absence of medullary osteonecrosis, osteosclerosis zones. That is followed by collecting the values of fat fraction in percentage (Ff, %), which is determined by calculating the Ff-map using IntelliSpace Portal 6.0-based software application on the constructed maps in the region of interest of the distal femoral meta-diaphysis. If the Ff value is less than 40 %, the degree of pathological bone marrow infiltration is stated as a high degree, while the Ff value is 40–69 % – as a moderate degree, if the Ff value is 70–85 % – as a mild degree, and if the value is more than 85 % – absence of pathological infiltration.

EFFECT: method provides determining a degree of manifestation of pathological infiltration of bone marrow in GD by determining values of fat fraction in percentage.
