FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to medical imaging, and can be used for assessing the effectiveness of osteopathic manipulation in treating patients with chronic tension headache. Before and after osteopathic manipulation, fMRI is performed. Obtained images are combined with the anatomical structures of the brain by carrying out a pulse sequence of the T1-weighted gradient echo with preparation of magnetisation and fast data collection. Card functional maps are analyzed by comparing cards before and after manipulation. If observing growth of positive functional connections in the area of medial prefrontal cortex, manipulation is considered effective.
EFFECT: method provides an objective assessment of the effectiveness of osteopathic manipulation by analyzing the connectivity of the cerebrum in the area of the medial prefrontal cortex (MPC).
