FIELD: machine building.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to water-borne curable film-forming compositions, obtained with their help substrates with multilayer coatings and methods of obtaining composite coating on a substrate and can be used in automotive industry. Water-diluting curable film-forming composition contains: a) an aqueous dispersion of polymer acrylic particles with average particle size Z less than 80 nm, which have reactive functional groups obtained from a mixture of monomers containing ethylenically unsaturated monomers, polymerising in the presence of a branched polymer from ethylenically unsaturated monomers, having an acid number of 40–200; b) a crosslinking agent having functional groups which are reactive with respect to functional groups on polymer acrylic particles; and c) an aqueous dispersion of at least one additional polymer having hydroxyl and/or acid functional groups and having an average particle size Z greater than 100 nm.

EFFECT: invention provides a smoother final film and improved appearance of the coating.
