FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention discloses a fuel additive containing a quaternary ammonium salt formed by reacting an alkyl carboxylate with a compound obtained by reacting a hydrocarbyl-substituted acylating agent and an amine to form succinimide, the amine having a structure of formula 1, where A is a hydrocarbyl linker with 2–4 carbon units, wherein one or more of them are independently replaced by an oxygen atom; and R1 and R2 independently represent alkyl groups containing 1 to 8 carbon atoms; wherein said hydrocarbyl-substituted acylating agent is selected from fatty acid, alkenyl succinic anhydride or polyisobutenyl-succinic anhydride; and wherein said alkylcarboxylate is alkyl oxalate, alkyl salicylate or a combination thereof, wherein the alkyl group thereof is C1-C6 alkyl. Also disclosed is a fuel composition containing said quaternary ammonium salt of formula (2) and a method of operating an engine with fuel injection, which provides improved engine performance, including burning in engine fuel composition containing large amount of fuel and said quaternary ammonium salt.
(1) (2)
EFFECT: technical result consists in use of quaternary ammonium salt to reduce deposits in injector in system or internal combustion engine.
