SUBSTANCE: invention describes a petrol composition, which includes as an additive one or more salts of (i) quaternary ammonium, formed by reacting a compound of formula and a compound formed by reacting a hydrocarbyl-substituted acylating agent and an amine of formula or , where R is optionally a substituted alkyl, alkenyl, aryl or alkylaryl group, R1 is an alkyl, aryl or alkylaryl group containing up to 36 carbon atoms, R2 and R3 are identical or different alkyl groups containing 1-36 carbon atoms, X is an alkylene group containing 1-20 carbon atoms, n ranges from 0 to 20, m ranges from 1 to 5 and R4 is hydrogen or a C1-C36 alkyl group; wherein the compound of formula (A) is a carboxylic ester selected from a substituted aromatic carboxylic acid, α-hydroxycarboxylic acid and polycarboxylic acid; wherein the hydrocarbyl-substituted acylating agent is polyisobutenyl-substituted succinic anhydride.
EFFECT: disclosed is the use of an additive based on a quaternary ammonium salt in a petrol composition for improving the performance of a petrol engine and for reducing deposits therein.
