FIELD: oil and gas industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a device for treatment of gas saturated with harmful substances and a method of gas treatment in the device. Device comprises an adsorption module comprising an inner layer of electroconductive material, located on the side of gas influx and equipped with gas inlet openings, outer layer of electrically conductive material located on the gas outflow side and equipped with gas outlet holes, and fibrous mat of activated carbon retained in compressed state by inner and outer layers, wherein outer layer has larger free flow cross section for gas compared to inner layer, electric circuit formed by inner and outer layers connected to voltage source, and fibrous mat, for heating fibrous mat for desorption of adsorbed hazardous substances, and a purging gas distribution tube for inerting and blowing the fibrous mat, introduced centrally into the adsorption module and having outlet openings. Note here that current passes through activated carbon fibers across direction of activated carbon fibers while activated carbon fibers are connected as resistance.
EFFECT: invention provides uniform heating of fibers from activated carbon along its axial length in module to temperature of desorption, improving mechanical stability of activated carbon fiber mats, as well as increasing efficiency, reliability and economy.
