FIELD: lighting engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to lighting engineering and can be used for disinfection of rooms. Device for disinfecting a room comprises: a discharge lamp configured to emit ultraviolet light; power circuit configured to control discharge lamp; housing surrounding discharge lamp, wherein housing side walls are transparent for ultraviolet light, and wherein discharge lamp and housing are arranged in device such that ultraviolet light emitted by discharge lamp and transmitted through housing is projected outside device; support structure supporting lower end of discharge lamp; and a reflecting system located on the discharge lamp top end, wherein the reflecting system is configured to redirect the light transmitted through the housing to a region from about 0.6 m (2 ft) to about 1.22 m (4 ft) from the floor of the room, in which the device is installed.

EFFECT: high efficiency of disinfection of rooms.
