FIELD: rail vehicles.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to means of detecting derailment of rail vehicle wheels based on wheel rpm. Method comprises determining parametric value of oscillation force of initial signal (22) of rotation speed of at least one wheel (10), and to assess the movement situation, performing the comparative analysis of said parametric value with criteria characteristic of critical situation, then method of detecting critical situation initiates operation in rail vehicle, wherein critical operation mode or derailment is detected by means of comparative analysis of parametric value of at least one wheel (10) with threshold value, threshold value is stored and adapted on the basis of measured data. At that, threshold value of oscillation force, after which conclusion is made about critical state, are determined by constant or phase-by-phase online learning during the whole route network, thereby determining the threshold value taking into account the features of the route network and constant adaptation to it.
EFFECT: higher reliability of detecting derailment of rail vehicle wheels.
