SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a method for detecting a failure of an acceleration sensor. Method for detecting a malfunction of the acceleration sensor, in which a signal is generated with the aid of an acceleration sensor, in inspection it is checked, whether the signal dependent parameter (a) meets the specified condition with respect to the reference value (r1, r2, r3), and by means of inspection the presence of a defect in the acceleration sensor is identified, and with the help of a time counter, time is also calculated, if the speed of the object exceeds the specified upper limit of the speed, in inspection it is checked, whether the parameter (a) exceeds the specified reference value (r3) until time reaches a given time value, at each excess of the reference value (r3) the penultimate time counter is reset and time is continued to be counted by this time counter only when the speed of the object exceeds the specified upper speed limit.

EFFECT: technical result – improving the reliability of detecting the failure of the acceleration sensor.
