FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to nuclear medicine, particularly to neurooncology, and can be used in boron-neutron capture therapy (BNCT) of malignant tumors to determine absorbed dose. Method of producing a beam of epithermal neutrons, involving irradiation of a neutron-generating lithium target with a proton beam, formation of a beam of epithermal neutrons from neutrons propagating in a direction opposite to the direction of propagation of the proton beam, characterized in that the proton beam having a proton energy of 1.948±0.002 MeV and with lithium target thickness of 9.2±0.2 mcm and the angle of emission of neutrons 105±5° obtained only epithermal neutron beam energy range.

EFFECT: obtaining a neutron beam containing only neutrons of epithermal energy range and not containing fast and slow neutrons.
