FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for catalytic conversion in vapour phase of disulphide oil to methane and hydrogen sulphide and to an apparatus for realizing said method. Method comprises contacting the oil with a disulphide-based catalyst supported transition metal in the presence of water and at a temperature of from 350 °C to 700 °C. Apparatus comprises a catalytic reactor comprising a vapour feed line for feeding a catalytic reactor with a vapour phase of disulphide oil, a gas recovery line for extracting a gaseous stream containing methane and hydrogen sulphide, catalytic layer accommodating supported transition metal catalyst and water reactor for feeding liquid water or water vapour to the plant via water line.
EFFECT: invention provides an improved method of catalytically converting disulphide oil without using hydrogen, producing methane without formation of methanethiol or disulphide oil, obtaining increased amount of hydrogen sulphide, high catalyst stability and longer service life of the catalyst.
