FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of development of methods for laboratory research of physical processes, in particular for investigation of laws of evaporation of group of liquid drops when heated by external heat flow. Method for determining rate of evaporation of a group of drops includes measuring change in size of droplets as they pass through vertically arranged hollow cylindrical heater, group of monodispersed drops is produced by multiple pulsed supply of liquid from measuring vessel into hollow cylindrical heater through a set of uniformly located capillaries of the same diameter with possibility of collection of drops passing through the heater into receiving reservoir, size of drops at the inlet of the heater is measured by video shooting, total masses of drops supplied to the heater and into the receiving container during the measurements are determined by weighing the liquid in the measuring and receiving containers, and the rate of evaporation of the group of drops is determined from the ratio:
where W is group of drops evaporation rate, kg/(m2⋅s); is density of liquid, kg/m3; R0 is drop radius at heater inlet, m; g is acceleration of free fall, m/s2; L is cylindrical heater length, m; mk is total liquid mass supplied to receiving container during measurements, kg; m0 is total liquid mass supplied to heater during measurements, kg.
EFFECT: high accuracy of determining the rate of evaporation of a group of drops.
