FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to surgery, and can be used for selecting a method of treating patients with suppurative sternomedistinitis after cardiac surgeries. A type of postoperative mediastinitis according to El Oakley & John E. Wright, 1996, performing computed tomography of thoracic organs and examining wound exudate on microflora is determined. In patients with type V osteomyelitis according to El Oakley & John E. Wright, absence of retrosternal fluid accumulation according to computed tomography and separating from the wound detachable maximum of one exciter in the amount of microorganisms not more than 103–104 CFU/ml one-stage surgical treatment is performed.
EFFECT: method provides the ability to quickly, accurately and reasonably set the indications for single-stage treatment of patients with purulent sternomediastinitis after cardiac surgeries, to rule out the severe consequences: transplant lysis and prolonged healing of the extensive chest injury by secondary tension, due to objective selection criteria: V type osteomyelitis, absence of accumulation of liquid behind the breast bone and separation of not more than one exciter from the wound separated by not more than 103–104 CFU/ml of microorganisms.
