SUBSTANCE: invention relates to parking assistance system and method. System for notification of free parking space for vehicle. Controller is programmed with possibility, in response to reception of signal supplied by user, which emanates from wireless portable transmitter and indicates intent of parked vehicle user to vacate parking space, fix the geographical coordinates of the parked vehicle, confirm that the change between the fixed coordinates and the current geographical coordinates of the vehicle exceeds the predetermined value, and carry out broadcasting of fixed coordinates.
EFFECT: easier location search for vehicle parking.
