SUBSTANCE: invention relates to lighting engineering and agriculture. Method involves conducting experimental studies of the actual harmonic composition of current and the power factor of light sources. Normalized total current distortion for the given light source is determined from the power factor. Actual total current distortion is determined for a given light source, magnitude of excess harmonic distortion by current. Actual harmonics of current are ordered as to value from larger value to smaller value. Minimum required value and frequency of current harmonics of the harmonic filter are determined by searching the ordered spectrum of harmonics to a value not exceeding the standard level of total harmonic distortion by current. Generating parameters of harmonic filter are generated.

EFFECT: method reduces power consumption of the LED system.
