FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for protection of metal structures in conditions of hydrocarbon burning at objects of storage and transportation of oil products characterized by high risk of fire. Multilayer carbon nanotubes (MWCNT), which are obtained by catalytic pyrolysis at a CVDomna installation from a vapour-gas phase of ethanol, are added to the solvent included in the fire-retardant intumescent compositions (FRIC). In process of their dispersion and application of composition on protected surface is exposed to alternating electric field with parameters U = 56 V, ƒ = 50 Hz. Concentration of MWCNT in FRIC is 0.10–1.25 vol. %, their diameter d = 30–50 nm, length l = 2–5 mcm, Q-factor G/D = 0.86–0.92, specific surface area S = 800–1200 m2/g.
EFFECT: technical result consists in improvement of fire-retardant efficiency of intumescent fire-resistant coating.
