FIELD: measurement.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrical measurements and is intended for preventive tests of insulation of large electrical machines and apparatus having a large time constant. In the process of insulation charging, the device fixes three values of current flowing through the insulation at equal intervals of time and value of voltage applied to insulation. To this end, a device comprising a test voltage source, a reference resistor, a charging switch, a test object, a discharge switch, a discharge resistor, output terminals to which the test object is connected, scaling voltage converter, voltmeter, three tracking-storage devices, three low-current controlled switches, four voltage dividers, voltage multiplying unit, four adder amplifiers, a logarithm unit, a squaring unit and a four-position switch, further comprising a low-current control key, a tracking-storage device, two voltage dividers and two indicators, Device allows determining steady-state values of leakage current and insulation resistance, maximum value of absorption current, time constant, as well as value of capacitance caused by internal absorbed charge of tested object, and value of active resistance caused by losses of electric power during polarization of inhomogeneous insulation. These parameters are used for quality rating of electric insulation.

EFFECT: broader functional capabilities and more objective evaluation of insulation quality.
