FIELD: electricity.

SUBSTANCE: device makes it possible to do the following: to charge a test object first to voltage U0, which is memorised. Further leads of the test object are shorted within the short period of time Δt. For this time the geometric reservoir CG is fully discharged down to zero, and voltage on a capacitor ΔC, specified by the inner absorbed charge, remains practically invariable. After some time Δt leads of the test object open, and the capacitor ΔC is discharged, charging the discharged capacitor Cg of the geometric reservoir until their voltages become equal to UG. Further the ratio ΔC/Cg=Ug/(U0-Ug) is found.

EFFECT: expansion of functional capabilities of a device and higher operational reliability of high-voltage tested electric equipment due to more objective assessment of electric insulation condition by measurement of ratio of insulation capacitance ΔC, specified by internal absorbed charge to a geometric reservoir Cg of tested insulation.
