SUBSTANCE: invention relates to water supply. Method consists in measurement of head in all control points of network, calculation of difference between obtained values of heads and preset, determination of the dictating point with minimum algebraic value of difference, alignment of the actual head value in the dictating point with the set value of the head. At the first stage, the water system is hydraulically modeled and the control points on the network are located, accumulating statistical information on the location of the dictating point depending on the time of day and determining an algorithm for determining the dictating point k depending on the time of day, k ∈ 1, 2, …, n, where n is the total number of control points.

EFFECT: reduced operating costs and wider field of application.
