FIELD: image forming technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the technology of forming an image from a virtual viewpoint based on images captured from a plurality of viewpoints. In the image processing device, three-dimensional shape data indicating the shape of the object are formed based on at least one of the plurality of images captured from different directions by the plurality of image capturing devices. Colour information indicating the colour of each data element of the three-dimensional shape is generated based on the generated three-dimensional shape data and the plurality of images. Data of three-dimensional shape and colour information are associated with each other and recorded in storage module as material data for forming a virtual viewpoint image corresponding to a virtual viewpoint information indicating a virtual viewpoint.
EFFECT: technical result is providing the possibility of obtaining a virtual viewpoint image, while reducing the amount of data.
