SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a tampon, in particular for feminine hygiene, which contains a substantially cylindrical absorbent body 1, compressed along periphery and placed in a shell or applicator 2. Absorbent body 1 is formed from a folded rectangular strip of absorbent material and has an end in the insertion direction of tampon 1a, rear end 1b from which string 3 stretches to remove the tampon, and side surface 1c. Entire outer surface of absorbent body 1 corresponding to its front end 1a, rear end 1b and side surface 1c is formed by first layer 11 of nonwoven absorbent material, wherein in said first layer of non-woven absorbent material, fibres that make said material are interconnected by piercing.

EFFECT: technical result achieved by the present invention consists in preventing separation of fibres from each other and their adhesion to the body of the user, causing irritation or hinders removal of the tampon.
