FIELD: items for personal use.

SUBSTANCE: tampon includes a substantially cylindrical absorbent pad and an extraction member operatively connected to the substantially cylindrical pad in close proximity to its end for extraction. The absorbent pad includes a mass of fibers compressed into a separate mould and a fluid pervious sheet coating substantially covering the mass of fibers. A plurality of separate groove shapes are formed on the absorbent pad or in it. At least two of these separate groove shapes, each has a length measured along the groove and constituting at least 150% of the pad length; each has a main axis with substantially longitudinal orientation; and each has a turn in close proximity to at least one end for insertion and end for extraction.

EFFECT: improved protection against leaks, increased ease of extraction.
