SUBSTANCE: absorbent tampon for feminine care includes a radially compressed elongated tampon pad and a fluid transport element. The elongated tampon pad includes a dome-shaped insertion end and a plurality of longitudinally extending grooves. At least a portion of the longitudinally extending grooves extend into its dome-shaped insertion end.

EFFECT: fluid transport element includes a perforated sheet of polymer film placed over the insertion end and attached to the elongated tampon pad, and a plurality of distal folds to provide elements configured to extend from the longitudinal surfaces of the elongated tampon pad, and a free space between the domed insertion end and a perforated sheet of polymer film.
