SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for increasing root biomass in a plant, involving a step for increasing expression of at least one PEAPOD protein in a plant. Also disclosed is a method of producing a plant with increased root biomass, which includes a step of transforming a plant or transforming a plant cell, which is regenerated into a plant, polynucleotide coding PEAPOD protein. Invention also relates to a plant which has an increased biomass of roots as a result of increased expression of PEAPOD protein due to transformation of a plant with a polynucleotide coding PEAPOD protein.

EFFECT: invention makes it possible to effectively increase biomass of roots in a plant.
