FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: to increase strength and plasticity, as well as to provide sufficient formability, a steel composition containing wt %: C from 0.03 to 0.18, Si from 0.15 to 1.6, Mn from 0.6 to 2.5, P to 0.025, S to 0.025, Al from 0.2 to methods of producing said compositions, and also to use of said compositions for production of ammunition casings of annular ignition. Steel compositions for use in cartridges of annular ignition cartridge are treated by stages of cold rolling and annealing to provide suitable physical properties.

EFFECT: disclosed are steel compositions, methods for production thereof and their use in production of shells of a circular ignition cartridge.
